A Golf Pro’s Choice of Equipment

I have been playing golf as a professional for over 30 years and have used quite a few different companies during this time when picking the right golf bag, golf glove, golf clubs, golf shoes etc etc. for my game.
I am not one of the mega stars who get paid vast amounts to endorse their products; I have to pay for mine albeit at a discount on the trade price. So this is not an advertisement for the company, it is my honest opinion as a Golf Professional on the quality of the products i choose to use.

The Titleist PROV-1 is without doubt the best golf ball I have ever used and has been in my golf bag for many years; in fact I must have used a titleist golf ball for the past 20 years. When I first started playing it was a Dunlop 65 fresh out of the wrapper, for those of you who do not know, golf balls used to be packaged in a wrapper back in the 1970′s and before. My oh my doesn’t time fly by. Anyway where was I? Oh yeah, why the PROV-1? – Simple really, it goes a long way, flies high, stops on a sixpence and has a lovely soft feel for those pitches and chips around the green. Enough said.

My glove of choice is a Titleist Players golf glove or a Footjoy Sta-Sof golf glove, both are made of high quality cabretta leather giving you a superb feel and they are very comfortable to wear. A lot of casual golfers use the All-Weather glove or man made versions, but I have never liked the feel of them and although the leather golf glove is more expensive they are well worth the extra money in my opinion. I know a few of you guy’s use the synthetic glove because it has reinforcement on the heel of the palm to help with wear and tear. Nearly every golf glove wears out there first, some quicker than others. But that is a fault of either your hold on the golf club, gripping the club too tightly at address and loosening your grip at impact, causing abrasions on your glove. But that’s another story, visit your golf pro and he will give you sound advice about this problem.

The golf Irons i use are the Titleist Z-Blend Forged with a dynamic gold S shaft and tour velvet grip. They are a blended cavity to muscle back forged iron, which means that the long irons are cavity backed, the mid irons are a partial cavity and the short irons muscle back blade. This is a great idea and has been around for a few years now, help where needed in the longer irons gradually blending to a blade type short iron for that classic look and playability. I love these irons, they are great to look at and have a lovely feel off the club head. In my humble opinion you cannot beat a forged golf club head for exceptional feel and playability.

So there you have it, just a small selection of the things you can find in my golf bag. The best golf ball, the best glove, the best irons and the best golfer of all time using them. OK scrap that last comment, we all have our dreams.

have a great time on the golf course, look after your golf equipment and if you are struggling with your game find a golf pro you like and respect and get some golf lessons from him. If you work at any changes in your game then you will benefit from them in the long run, if you don’t, then it will be just like all the other golf tips you have discarded as being no good.

How To Decide On A New Or Used Golf Cart

The design is classic and has not changed significantly in the decades since the first ones were produced. It is essentially a small utility truck intended to help get golfers and their bags of clubs from one hole to the next. The engines are most likely an electric motor or a gas engine and each has it’s own advantages.

Golf carts don’t suffer a lot of wear and tear and the worst accident damage is likely to be a small low speed dent at worst. When you look at the costs involved and how long a golf cart might last you a used golf cart makes a lot of financial good sense.

It doesn’t cost a lot to run a golf cart and both the gas powered and electric ones are very economic. If you care which type you use then you do have the choice but most of us don’t really care what sort of engine we are using.

When you are buying a used golf cart you should check that it has been serviced correctly. Regular servicing is obviously important but there isn’t a lot of wear on either electric or gas carts so it is not too expensive. The electric golf carts have far fewer moving parts and servicing often involves little more than a quick check to ensure the electrical connections are in order. Both electric and gas powered carts will need to have their brakes checked and you should make sure the tires are as they should be.

People like to make their golf carts look a bit special by decorating them in their own style. If you are a fan of something you can decorate your custom cart to suit that theme. People enjoy standing out from the crowd of similar looking carts and there’s nothing wrong with that.

You will find golf carts used at many different places and at all types of large complexes. Theme parks find them very simple and economical vehicles to use for transporting people around their sites.

Not many people give much thought to the humble golf cart but they do a terrific job for a relatively small cost. You can see what a good buy these are and they can be used for various things other than as golf carts. If you do some searching online you can find websites listing golf carts being offered for sale.

Fix Your Golf Swing With These Tips

One of the questions that I think a lot of people would like to know is, “how long will it take to fix my swing .In the next sections, I show you some different approaches you can take. After going through them, it’s going to be up to you to decide which approach is the best for you.

Swing Fix 1 – Purchase New Equipment

Every golfer has bought new clubs at one time or another to help change their game.   Now, I don’t want to totally discount this fix because buying new clubs can help your game if you’re playing the wrong clubs, or your clubs are not properly fitted to you and your swing. What you should do, is find an experienced clubfitter and have your clubs fitted and your swing checked.

Buying new clubs can fix your swing in a way you may not realize. Newer clubs feel different from your old clubs.  This means that when you hit shots with them, you’re thinking so much about how the new club feels that you aren’t thinking of how you’re swinging. This new feeling totally clears your mind but it doesn’t last long.A couple of weeks after using your new clubs, they don’t feel all that different so you start thinking about your swing again. The best thing to do would be to stop experimenting with new clubs.

As I mentioned earlier, try to find a professional clubfitter and get fitted. Then, stay focused on working on your swing.

Swing Fix 2 – Swing Tips

We’ve all picked up the latest golf magazine and tried the latest golf tips hoping they will magically get our game back on track. The thing is, most golfers are not experienced enough to determine if these tips would benefit their swing. If you don’t know your swing well enough and you keep trying these tips, you may make your swing worse. Plus, a tip is just a tip. It’s not certain that it’s going to help develop the proper fundamentals.

An example of this would be to change to a stronger grip.A tip like this may help you square the club a little better but it’s is not helping your develop a proper grip.  Be very careful when you’re working on the latest tip in a golf magazine, or from your friend.  A good idea would be to discuss the tip with your head pro or teaching pro first to see if it would be a good fit for your game.Only then should you try it.If it works, great!

Swing Fix 3 – Lack of Focus

So many golfer’s are searching for the instant cure that they get caught up into experimenting with too many changes at once. This approach will never work.Unfortunately, this will be too confusing. Also, you may have attempted so many different things that you don’t remember what actually worked. It may have been luck even if you did find something that worked.  The true test for this apporach is your game improving long into the future.

Swing Fix 4 – Only Work on 1 Thing

The best thing you can do to fix your golf swing is to work on one thing untl you have it mastered. If you do it this way, you will keep your focus and not be trying to work on all sorts of different things at once.If you’re going to work on your swing this way, then you are going to need a swing coach or a method to follow.  By focusing on  your swing like this, you’ll reenforce the changes because you won’t be getting sidetracked.  Now, I know a lot of people are think this will take too long.  When compared to the other fixes I mentioned, this really will be the fastest.

The reason is, the other ways I described only present a short term fix whereas, isolating one part of your swing develops the right fundamentals that will stay with your long into the future.

Excellence and Technology abound in 2009 ECCO golf shoes

Scandinavian company Ecco continues to deliver the excellence they have become known for in their current line of ECCO brand golf shoes. With all different sizes and colors available in their men’s styles, technology and comfort abound. The Ecco golf shoes sport different technologies that can help enhance a golfer’s game. Several styles include Ecco’s patented water resistant Hydromax leather keeping feet dry while tromping through the rough on that par 5.  The process of water resisting the shoes isn’t just on the outside, but throughout the leather for longer lasting effectiveness.

For golfers who prefer to walk instead of riding the cart, ECCO brand shoes have “Direct Inject” technology creating a lightweight but strong outside. The direct inject feature provides stability and cushioning allowing for extended time on one’s feet without becoming fatigued. Since the soles of these shoes are built with out glue or stitching, they prove to be long lasting – perfect for many rounds of comfortable golfing.

The Ecco golf shoes were designed with golfers in mind. Each golf shoe includes the Ecco swing stabilizer providing an internal system that helps stabilize heels during every golf swing. Ecco has also eliminated a distraction during the golf game by providing each pair of shoes with waxed laces that will stay tied and not throw off the rhythm of the game. If golfers prefer to wear a spikeless shoe, Ecco also has those available. Still providing traction and grip, these shoes won’t create divots or scratches on sensitive greens.

Colors and varieties of Ecco golf shoes abound. Men’s styles range from the Classic saddle to the Flexor model to a casual tennis shoe style of golf shoe. There are many color options ranking from the more conservative but chic white and black combinations, to brown (all colors of brown and white). Ecco golf shoes also provide a more contemporary vibe of a mix of reds (lava), blues, and black and tans for the shoes as well.

Women’s styles of Ecco golf shoes are just as appealing. Several styles sport a classic wing buckle, to traditional laces, to a Velcro strap look. Great bold colors here as well including pink, blacks, tans, and silvers. Ecco golf shoes range from $110 to $430. Features and styles vary with each pair of shoe allowing the golfer to choose the perfect Ecco brand shoes for their golf game.
